Members of our Group met with the MP for Tring, Mr. Gagan Mohindra, for 30 minutes to discuss the Repeal of EU Laws Bill particularly relating to environmental protection. Our worry is that important laws that protect our environment will be removed and nothing enacted in our law by our Parliament to replace them. This could be a green light for those companies happy to pollute our rivers and concrete over our green spaces.
Mr Mohindra listened to our concerns about the loss of laws protecting the environment and made general positive comments. He did say that he would talk to a fellow MP who was previously a farmer and be guided by his opinion and that the House of Lords would act to prevent any serious shortcomings in the REUL bill. He agreed that the issues we raised would get more attention from MPs if their inboxes filled with emails from their Electorate about their concerns about the Bill.
We would encourage you to contact your own MP to check on their stance and campaign in your area.
