The Justice & Peace Group was delighted to take part in the Apple Blossom Day celebration at Jeacocks’ Orchard, Cow Lane, on Sunday, 4th May. Thanks to Polly and Julian Eaton’s hard work, our stall was beautifully set up with a gazebo, tables, and a range of engaging ‘Bee Friendly’ activities for children.

A highlight of the day was a hand-painted map of Tring on cardboard, designed with key reference points such as street names to help visitors orient themselves. Guests were invited to mark local landmarks and their own homes on the map using eco-friendly glue, which attracted plenty of interest and interaction at our stall.

We also offered a fantastic selection of plants for sale, including flowering annuals, perennials, and a variety of vegetables. All the plants were grown locally from seed, cuttings, or division—keeping their environmental footprint minimal. Special thanks to Peter Dobson for transporting the plants from the van, and to Nigel Nutkins, who brought along hazel saplings grown from seeds in his garden. His cheerful offer of ‘nuts from Nutkins’—with a free squirrel thrown in—brought plenty of smiles!

Our dedicated team covered the stall throughout the day, with Nigel, Nicky Bull, and myself on duty in the morning, and Polly, Anne, and Malcolm Nobbs taking over in the afternoon. It was a pleasure to engage with visitors and share more about the work of the Justice & Peace Group.

The event was well attended, and the live folk music created a wonderful atmosphere. Thanks to generous donations for the plants, we raised £272 to support the ongoing work of the Group.
