Just Peace
The lives of Israelis and Palestinians have been shaped by collective loss, trauma and fear. Israeli occupation and an extreme imbalance of power mean that millions of Palestinians live under oppression and in poverty. The war in Gaza has demonstrated how urgently people in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory need a just peace. Everyday, ordinary Palestinians and Israelis stand up for dignity, equality and a just peace, often at great cost. Let’s stand with them. Join us every Friday in Tring High Street from 5pm to 6pm for a silent vigil.

Modern Day Slavery
Look around you, modern day slavery could be going on right under your nose, even in your local town. The Modern Slavery Act 2015 Act was introduced by James Brokenshire and supported by Theresa May and Lord Bates. This Act consolidated previous laws pertaining to slavery and trafficking. The Act also included are requirement for businesses to ensure their supply chains are free from forced labour including outside the UK.
International Justice Mission (IJM) is a global organisation with a plan to eliminate slavery everywhere. They are a team of undercover investigators, lawyers, social workers and advocates working to end forced labour, people trafficking, and exploitation of children and adults. We support IJM by fundraising and highlighting their work.
You can report Online
There could be victims of exploitation working in domestic servitude or forced labour on your street. If you suspect modern slavery, report it to the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700 or the police on 101. In an emergency always call 999.
Holocaust Memorial Day
Holocaust Memorial Day Trust is marked on 27 January every year. Holocaust Memorial Day marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp. The Holocaust threatened the fabric of civilisation, and genocide must still be resisted today. Our world often feels fragile and vulnerable and we cannot be complacent. Even in the UK, prejudice and the language of hatred must be challenged by us all. Each year across the UK, thousands of people come together to learn more about the past and take action to create a safer future. Together we bear witness for those who endured genocide, and honour the survivors and all those whose lives were changed beyond recognition.
As a group, Tring’s Justice and Peace Group highlights Holocaust Memorial Day by creating displays and sharing leaflets around the town.
